I want to go through my vinyl collection, and clean each record then put each one in a new sleeve. Can anyone recommend a good source?

I'm sure that the vinyl experts here have good sources, but I'll mention acousticsounds.com. I ordered some music from them back in 2009 and was happy with the service and quality of the packaging. They sell records and several kinds of sleeves.

Most used vinyl shops sell vinyl sleeves....I'm betting that its more expensive than the route Adam took. I picked up someting like 10 sleeves for a buck but I may be off on that. I'll have to check.

Bags Unlimited has been around for a long time and stocks virtually any type of inner or outer sleeve one could want, including the hard to find ones for DVD-Audio cases and Japanese mini LP covers, as well as the nice "rice paper" styles sleeves used by Mobile Fidelity and other audiophile labels (less chance of scuffing than with standard paper sleeves):

Here are their rice paper inner sleeves:

Another source is Music Direct, which now owns the MoFi label. They have a better price for inner sleeves:

Be careful! Do not clean a disc that does not need it. Record cleaning is highly problematic, and only works well with high vacuum systems. Never use detergent it makes the discs sticky and they re accumulate dirt fast.

All wet system are inclined to drive dirt deeper in the grooves were it increases noise level.

I have collected records for over 50 years and have never wet cleaned a disc.

I handle the disc carefully, and never touch the playing surface. I keep the turntable mats clean. I return records to their jackets immediately after playing. I make sure the sleeve is sideways in when inserting into the jacket. Records are stored vertically with gentle pressure between playing.

With every play, I use the Cecil E. Watts dust bug with every play. I maintain very silent surfaces.

thanks

I have an Audio-Technica cleaning kit on its way. The albums which were mine originally and clean, I will continue to just use a fine cloth on (been using those electrically-charged dusting cloths; seem to work well). But I have some LPs I picked up recently that are really filthy... would not even think about laying them on my TT! I will use the AT kit to clean them, and I am getting rid of all my old paper sleeves and replacing them with new. All the albums were stored covered, but in a dusty environment and I will feel better with all new, clean sleeves.

Thanks for your kind help.

I have the original disc washer system that I purchased back in the 70s. I'm running out of fluid now but I only the use the fluid on the grungiest of records I buy from the used vinyl shop. Other than that, its strictly dry brush for me.
