HT room

That sounds like a good size room for a couple rows of seating. If you get much bigger, you will need larger speakers, amps, and subs to produce the same SPL levels in HT effect.

Also, note, there are some golden rules for room dimensions to reduce room modes, which I am pretty sure your 12' x 18' x 9' violates. You might also consider the Rives Acoustics level 1 or 2 consulation so you will get it right the first time.

A little more "ideal" would be 12.9 x 20.9 x 8 ;)

try playing around with this spreadsheet which I developed off a Sound and Vision Magazine file and a year of indipendant research. Start on sheet 1 and then move to sheet 2. Good luck.
