Got my 6500UB for $2999. Just got a $400 rebate check on it and I'm also getting a spare bulb. If you subtract those from what I paid, the cost would be about $2200.

Fan noise in natural mode is somewhat noticeable when sitting right next to the projector but far from obtrusive. Switched it to theaterblack and it becomes almost silent.

Have you seen this one? I have these guys (AAXA) P1 pico projector was just looking at the specs for their P2 when I noticed this:

$2299 for SXRD seems like a good deal. Looks like a rebadge of the LG AF115. I have heard some bad things about LG projectors, but it seems like mostly the european guys are having problems. I have heard great things about SXRD however, it's supposed to be much better than 3LCD...

My vote goes for the Panny PT-AE4000U. Coming to the states for a list of $2k according to my online projector retailer of choice. Glad I waited on the AE3000, which is being closed out at less than that.

That's an interesting model. Obviously with the 'FROM LG' sitting right on the page, it's barely even a rebadge.

But, LG projectors in the USA are almost unheard of and I am far less than thrilled with what I have seen from LG displays beyond them being 'cheap'. I personally think that for the money, people are far more likely to get better values and far higher quality product elsewhere.

LG has a long way to go to prove itself as a quality HT projection product.

Yeah you're right, with the AE4000 at $2k it's not even a contest... there's been some bad reviews of the LG unit on some UK projector forums...

Panasonic 4000 or Epson 8500ub. 2 grand and 2.5 grand respectively. These two units are going to make for a hell of a shootout. I could close my eyes, pick one, and be happy for a long time...so could many others.

On sale you could easily find Ae4000 for under 2000.
