So I have an issue here.

I've been playing guitar for about two years now. Electric (Jackson DKMG).

I recently decided to get an acoustic, which was an awesome decision. Problem is, I've been stricly EMD (electronic dance music) for the past 6-7 years. I occasioanlly listen to rock, but usually just Dream Theater.

So, if you could, post some awesome acoustic songs for me to learn.

Not necessarily acoustic, but check out Craig Chaquico's work. Panorama is a "best of" from him and the guitar work is very good, and excellent recordings. He has his own signature guitar that is made for him. He is the guitarist from Jefferson Starship (Airplane). Great live show too. It is categorized as "new age", but it is not quite rock; progressive rock I guess is what I would call it.

Craig again with Russ Freeman from The Rippingtons - From the Redwoods to the Rockies. Amazing guitar work with the two of them. Jazzy and a bit mellow, but great stuff.

Advice : check out any tabs by Andy Summers( The Police) that guy is freakin amazing...if you can learn Andy's style you are golden for almost anything else, at least that was my finding.....

Are you lookiing for mainstream or indie?

City and Color are fun to play IMO. I picked up a 12 string Yamaha a few weeks back and haven't touched the electric since.

Any song with full cords can be played fairly easily on an acoustic, but if it has heavy effects, it may not sound right (unless you're going for a stripped out version).

Start writing your own too!

Sevendust-Angel's Son
Neil Young-Needle and the Damage done
Stevie Ray Vaughn-Life by the Drop

I'm unsure of any technical aspects, but to me these are fine acoustical songs.

I've been liking some of the offerings from Incubus.

I'd say I lean towards some of the indie stuff.

But of course... :D

Bit of an eclectic list, but I like 'em. Also have gotten into some latin acoustic guitarists recently as well, like Armik, Johannes Linstead, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, good stuff... -TD

I would add Mark O'Connor to this list. He was in Strength In Numbers with Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer and Jerry Douglas. He normally plays violin but he had one guitar solo that smoked. He also took a mandolin solo that blew Sam Bush out of the water, IMO.
