After listening to speakers, I have narrowed my choices to these two. What are the pros and cons of each? Is one better than the other? Thanks!

I vote for GE. I have the Triton 2, and I have no love for Polk

Personally I would get the speakers with built-in subs. In this case, I also vote for the GE.

The T7 does not have the built in subs. Only the T1, T2, T3 have that feature
Bummer. I can't recommend it then. :)

I think the OP should save another $500 and get the RBH SX-6300 (street price ~ $1900), which have the built-in subs.

Out of these two no doubt GE is the winner, BUT measurements show it to be pretty bright speaker:

at $1400 pair I strongly believe you could do better like these towers:

Also I would not recommend to try to get true full range tower - it's nearly impossible at even at this price
Great 2.1 would sound better and be much cheaper than comparable in performance tower.
This is great option:

Already answered.

Triton 7s over Polk, both Sandy Speakers, the T7s would be my suggestion.

I definitely wouldn't describe them as bright speakers as I have a pair in my bedroom.

I have owned a large portion of their line now, Aon 2 / 3 / 7 and now T1s. The T7s are an excellent bang for your buck and you should easily be able to get these for $1200 from any dealer if you negotiate. Great Bass for a speaker its size and you will appreciate the HVFR tweeters.

The measurements actually show a speaker that would sound rather subdued in the region generally associated with "brightness." The peak is much higher up and might add a "tizzy" character to strings and brass, but not brightness per se. The measurements certainly aren't great, but this magazine measures with the grills on, and that can add some peaks and dips that I'm not sure the ear really picks up on.

For speakers that do not measure well, they sure get top recommendations by pretty much every review site. As for grills, they don't have grills, they have the sock thingy which is not supposed to be removed as its part of the design.

I could go on, the point of the matter, what does the ear really pick up on, apparently 99% of the review sites don't pick up on it ;)

My T2s are not bright in the slightest.

Smooth top end. Dunno if I just don't hear much over 10KHz or so though.

The imaging on the T2s is incredible too.

Well, that's because you love the sound of your speakers. Why, that's not even remotely important. If you didn't love the sound of your speakers, why, those speakers would just be downright bright, forward, harsh, and inaccurate, etc. :)

I've heard the 7s and I'll be, they sounded damn good to me. Of course I was at the alter with Sandy when he was playing them, but when he announced they had no sub playing I was astounded by the low end. Now ADTG isn't going to agree with me but that's why they make a bunch. Ive got 683s and I'm sure he dosen't like those either LOL.
