Well, I'm completely excited. I'm going to NAMM in Anaheim this weekend and I'm beside myself with anticipation. My company is sending me, free of charge, to check it out and the whole nine. Anyone been before? Have any suggestions on what I should definitely try to see or do while there? Maybe I'll even see some of you guys there.

Dave, it is one of the biggest music product trade shows in the world, and definitely the biggest in N America.

mudrummer, cool man, I know a few people that go every year, but I've never been. It's pretty loud and hectic, so it's sort of hard to get a good demo according to many. One of my friends was sitting next to Stevie Wonder on a bench (one of my heroes), and didn't even know it until his friend was enthusiastically pointing at him, heh.

A different friend normally tries to avoid the hectic main floor, and likes to spend time, IIRC, on a lower floor where they have a lot of smaller items. Much less busyness, and some interesting stuff to find, so he says.

Have fun, and report back.

Seriously, I have no life.
NAMM is the National Association of Music Merchants, as in instruments, PA, amps, accessories and any kind of gear used for music. I went in about '82 and I met Bill Bruford on the way to his demonstration, which he was trying to find. Nice little chat. Walked into the room and the guy who stepped aside so I could go in was Carmine Appice. I went to the Kahler whammy bar booth and it was right next to the Tom Scholz Rockman booth, and Tom was there. Really nice guy. Then, I went to the Lexicon demo, which was being done by Steve Morse, then of the Dixie Dregs, now with Deep Purple by way of Kansas. On the main floor was a Moog display, with Keith Emerson and his original ginormous synthesizer.

I would really like to go again, especially since I know some people who'll be there demonstrating for Fender and a couple of other companies.

This'll be my first one, so I'm hoping to just not be overwhelmed the entire time. I've heard that I will see more famous musicians at this than I will ever see in one place again, but I'm not a huge star struck person, so if I get to meet them, that's cool, if not, oh well. I am a huge gear head though, so I can't wait to see what's coming out for the rest of the year. I've heard some great things from Fender and Gibson are coming soon, so I really want to see them in person. I'm also excited to see what Mackie is going to put out as their B-line since they are doing away with Tapco. And as always, I can't wait to see what Roland drops. Every year they seem to have something huge they announce, whether it's big equip or small, it is always cool stuff.

I will definitely be taking notes, and if they allow it, pics.
