going from 5.1 to 7.1

to me it almost seems overwhelming to have 7 speakers sitting around.. where do they all go?

obviously you have the front L, R, C and rear R & L, so is there a rear center and a mid way between the front stage and rear stage?

i would image most 7.1 set ups dont have a very high WAF (wife acceptance factor) lol especially if you (like me) plane to use full size book shelfs for the rear surrounds..

without getting into "correct placement" just wondering how you guys pull of 7.1 and how it is designed...
