"Officials at Live Earth Johannesburg have blamed the effects of climate change for poor audience attendance at Saturday's (07Jul07) South African event. Organiser John Langford believes extremely cold weather in the region - it snowed last week (ends06Jul07) for the first time in a quarter of a century - kept people away from the concert, which starred Joss Stone, UB40, Angelique Kidjo and Baaba Maal. Speaking before the event, Langford said, "We're expecting 10,000 here tonight. It's a bit chilly, and we've had a strange winter... is it climate change? We had snow in Jo'burg last week for the first time in 25 years."

Global warming blamed for cold weather and poor concert attendance.....Hahahahahahahaha

I cannot even make this stuff up........:confused::rolleyes:

PS.... I hear the TV ratings for last weekends (highly publicized by a media lovefest) "Al Gore-athon" were dismal.

Maybe I am missing something but I believe they blamed climate change and no where in the short article does global warming get spoken of. They just say the weather has been odd this winter and that is to blame.

Where did you get global warming from besides the comment about the article posted by anyone?

So I guess when liberal environmentalist "Global Warming Concert" promoters blame climate change for bad weather & poor concert attendance...... you have absolutely no idea what they're saying:rolleyes:

I understand the point of Live Earth and I also understand what you are inferring. At the same time there are a variety of reasons the Earth's climate is changing both warmer and colder. While I do agree some of the views from this concert are a little well out there I also notice that there is some reason behind some of the goals of this fund raiser and that some people involved are educated and might realize that there are other things affecting the Earth that could cause temperature decreases besides global warming. As always there is a scapegoat for everything because most of science is not definitive so if there is a global warming these "crazy liberals" can blame there is also a global cooling. That was my only point :p.

So basically they are blaming man, just not with global warming. You of all people should know that any and all extremists bend and twist everything to their favor.

I'll have to ask you to please stop.(for your own good) Do you realize how silly you're making yourself look?

Liberal enviromentalists haven't fretted man-made global cooling since the 70s:)

Yeah, I know the trends don't fit with recent times (I did read the wiki before posting) but blaming something called Global Warming for an effect of cooling is rather silly too hence why they left it out. If they were going to name it they would probably call it "Polution based climate change" or something along those lines.

My only point is that just because you don't agree with the environmentalist doesn't mean they are stupid and going to call a cooling situation caused by global warming. Now I'll be done.

Is it not hilarious that unusually cold weather (and an extremely rare snowfall) is blamed for poor attendance of a "Global Warming" concert? The fact that concert officials used this opportunity to blame climate change is only icing on the cake. The reality is that weather was only one factor of many contributing to the lack of attendance.

With that said.... The irony of the above story is simply delicious......

............and I find it interesting that you'd choose this thread to disagree.

Somehow, I bet that Bush was at fault.
They'll blame the global "cooling trend" lack of public interest on the environmentally insensitive conservatives:rolleyes:

One thing is for certain....... It surely wasnt due to NBC's lack of effort. NBC and it's cable networks devoted a total of 35 hours of air time on Saturday alone to the Live Earth concerts.......lol
(not to mention the multi-week, multi-channel, television lovefest leading up to the concert)

The Al Gore-athon has received nothing but free TV publicity for the entire summer.

I once saw a show about the ice age many years ago. I bet that was their fault too!

Problem: Nobody went to concert.

Dumb solution: Weather was "too cold" in Africa.

Obvious Answer: people have jobs and Joss Stone sucks.

It's winter in South Africa right now and cold is normal for that place
There are currently many examples of extremely rare cold weather events in the southern hemisphere, but todays agenda driven "global warming" alarmist media doesnt report them on evening news left-casts. Anything that goes against the grain of their gloom and doom alleged 'GB-consensus' is deemed NOT newsworthy.

There are many examples.....For one, Buenos Aires just experienced their first significant snowfall since 1918, twenty three deaths resulted from exposure to the extreme 'un-regionlike' cold, the rare cold is causing a major Argentinian energy crunch, and none of the big3 anchors reported the event.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070709/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/argentina_historic_snow

By contrast....... if 23 people died from rare heatwave in a cool climate region anywhere in the world...... you can bet it would be front page news for a week, and the opening talking point on every evening newscast:rolleyes:

Naw.... who says the media are biased? Not only do they demonstrate their bias by how they report the news, but it's also demonstrated by what they report...........and through omission of events that don't jive with their agenda.
