I bumped into this while searching for DIY sub ideas. While this surely looks enticing and pretty.
Is this just some more snake oil BS?

I could be wrong, but my first instinct was, glass for a sub dosen't seem right. (I think in one pic, the tweeter and midrange at 90 degree angles)
Are there challenges and drawbacks when trying to use glass?

Well, the Bosch router I bought for my last DIY project would be rendered somewhat futile. :D

It sure looks cool, but I can't imagine trying to work with glass on a DIY project. It would have to be relatively thick glass as well, and the internals would have to be laid out quite nicely (somewhat eliminating the ability to use poly as well) since everyone gets to see them.

I did get a good laugh reading the new term they coined "super silent glass". Noisy glass sure wouldn't work as well. :p I assume it's just really thick glass?

I remember Velodyne had a similar looking subwoofer once upon a time, though it was made from acrylic ...

Pretty much every manufacturer has done one in acrylic for demo purposes. I've seen Bose bass modules in acrylic even.

While glass has different harmonics than wood, I still don't see it as being a useful benefit. Sounds like a gimmick to me.
