I thought the movie was alright. It was a bit blown up for me pre-viewing, but this is becoming nearly commonplace for me. However, it seems that people who have been reading the books are following the series more avidly.
Hurt Locker was too "blown up" for me. If I didn't hear any of the hoopla, I probably would have enjoyed it much more.
The last viewing at my place was
A Prophet. A French film about prison (gang) life, Corsicans and Arabs. Again, "blown up" for me. A couple of friends saying they read reviews that it compares with the Godfather series, and well, no it doesn't. It's a good worthwhile viewing for those who are into this kind of thing, but keep expectations in check.
I finally got Repo Men in from Netflix. I'm about to find out if I never listen to mike c recommendations again.
And I finally bought Delicatessen after it was sitting in my cart for weeks. Expensive, but I had to pull the trigger, because there's probably no one else who has been pushing for the Jeunet/Caro collaborations on the boards that I frequent. I would be a hypocrite. Well, the Studio Canal BDs are getting some pretty bad press for their transfers, but fortunately this one is one of the better ones from their less than desirable output.
