Getting the right surrounds

Hi all,

Looking for opinions here. My receiver is a Yamaha Rxv-765, I currently have Klipsch rc-52 center and a pair of RF-62's as my mains.

I am going to add my surrounds shortly and was looking at 2 pair of RB-61's for the surrounds and back surrounds.

My question is: Are the RB-61's overkill? Should I go with the RS-42's as they are half the cost? If I go with the lower model do I need to worry when I am cranking up the music?

Thanks in advance.

The further you sit from them, and/or the larger the room, I would get the larger bookshelves.

If your heads are very close to the surrounds, the RS42 may give you more diffuse audio, which may be desired.

Are those bipoles, or dipoles, or can they be switched to either mode?

Dipoles are designed so that you sit in the null. Both dipoles and bipoles will react more with the room and its boundaries/layout. Bipoles will give you greater coverage than the other designs.

I own Klipsch and I'd choose the rs-42s if they are half the price.

Also, if you were to go with the RB-61s you would have more options with them in the future. The 61s should not be twice the price of the 42s though...
