Hello,
A little background, I have an 11x11 room. Speakers consist of B&W 805D3 fronts, HTM2D3 Center and two REL HT/1205 subs. I proba won’t have any rears for a while. Currently I’ve had a Rotel RSp1576mkii which I am not happy with so I went with the Arcam AV40, first day compete firmware failure, pretty much a bricked unit. I also had a Rotel RMB 1585 5x200w which had a annoying buzzing sound which is being returned. I’ve also had a monolith HTP-1 which I felt was pretty cheap in build, volume knob, loose power connector in the back and overall It just sounded like a drape was hanging over my speakers, tons of clipping also when doing Dirac not sure why, my other dirac enabled processors never had that.
That being said, I’m going with the NAD m17V2i, since the price is higher than the other guys, I thought I could compensate in the amplifier with something like the Monolith 3-5Ch. I’ve read great things about them. Also through my research I have come to understand how the pre/pro is vastly more important than the amp. I would love to go with the digital amp from NAD to match but it’s just too much money (4-5k) at this point since I’m stretching budget on the processor.
is going with the 3 channel better than going 5 since I don’t have 5 speakers to power In terms of quality?
My utilization is about 50/50 movies, music I would say. I’m using 4k blu-rays and Apple TV 4K, also for music, I am currently using a Bluesound node 2i (would be replaced with the NAD m17 v2i with the built in BluOS) with Tidal.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you!
