Hi All,
I would like to buy a mid-range HTS with good & clear sound quality.

My option are:
Option 1
Yamaha HTIB-06 (RX-V550 + NS-P436)
Yamaha NS-515 F CH
[This is the most expensive option with High & clear quality speaker]

Option 2
Yamaha RX-V550 + NS - 7390 CH + NS-P70CH
Yamaha YST-SW215 CH
[This is the least expensive option, but no high / clear quality speaker]

Option 3
Yamaha HTIB-06 (Net 90%)
Jamo E670
[This is the Middle expensive as compare to opt 1 & 2, with Jamo high quality / clear speaker]

Is Opt 3 a good combination? How is Jamo speaker as compare to Yamaha? Which is better?

My priority is to get a good HTS package that can play both good movie and music (especially crytal clear sound quality, e.*. water dripping/wave moving)

Would appreciate your advise.

Have you considered other options like Yamaha with Paradigm, Axiom, B&W, Canton etc. Yamaha's NS-7390 are low end offerings from them and as such quite good for what you pay but not exactly high end, try their mid range NS-555/777 which are superb.

I'm using it for 70% movie, 30% music.
I'm haven't done the research on Paradigm, Axiom, B&W, Canton etc. NS-555/777 looks good. Are they expensive high end speaker?
Is it alright to mix speaker. I mean mixing Yamaha with Paradigm etc. Some people said Yamaha speaker is poorer than other branded speaker. Yamaha is only good on receiver and woofer. Pls comment.

Try the Athena or the Energy!!!

Yamaha speakers are not as good as other speakers. I am not sure what your budget is, but some economical speaker options you can explore with the RXV-550 (which is a good receiver) are the Athena Micra 6, Energy Act6/ Take 5.2 or the Polk 6700. I am currenty using the Athena and these are pretty good speakers. Very clear sound. Since I use the system more for music, I am probably replacing my speakers for the Energy speakers. But the Athena's are quite good!!

Coolguy, have you audtioned the NS line of Yamaha speakers? They're actually quite good, and an absolute steal at the prices I've seen them for online. My 777's have a very warm, rich sound that doesn't sacrifice clarity or detail. Definitly recommended if you have the space for floor standers.

Yamaha speakers are accurate, even the lower priced ones and their higher end is simply legendary and incomparable, problem is, accurate and musical doesnt go with everyone's perception of sound but to me, I wouldnt have anything else except maybe Canton or Paradigm.

Yamaha speakers go well with quite a lot of other brands, Marantz, older SONY ES amps and receivers, go by your ears and you will have the best match on this.

Well, i like much more my Yamaha's NS-300 than the Athena's; and i liked the Energy Connoisseur C-5 too a little bit more than my Yamaha's, but their cost was much higher ($300).

Hi, I have finally got my RX-V550 yamaha receiver. I have a problem, when I played DTS ES (6.1) DVD, although all 6 speakers+subwoofer have sound, but my front panel display only display 5.1 without indicating that I have Surround back (SB) speaker connected. Is my RX-V550 having some problem or . . . .?

Please help.

Thank you.

Also, my
Current system: RX-V550 + NS-P436
If I add Jamo E670 speaker onto my current system, will this combo work fine? I got a very good deal on this Jamo speaker, is it good? Need your advise. TQ.

What I meant was the SB speaker is not detected from the front panel, but the other 5.1 speaker was detected eventhough the SB sounded. Please help. Thanks.

This may be a dumb question, but did you select DTS 6.1 in the DVD menu? It sounds like the rear center is being matrixed from the left and right rear channels.

Stryf3, thanks for your reply.
Yes, the DTS 6.1 is selected from the menu as a result the Surround Back Speaker has sounded. However, the Amp's panel doesn't display the SB speaker. Is it my Amp's problem or set up problem? I just bought this Amp 1 week ago.

My FL, FR, Central, Woofer, SL & SR are displayed on the panel except SB while playing DTS 6.1 although there is sound from SB speaker.

Hope I'm not getting a faulty unit, if it is fault, I'll need to return back to them. HELP!!!!

Well, I have got answer from another thread. It is caused by my DVD DTS 6.1 version. If it is matrix, it only show 5.1. If it is discrete, it will show 6.1 which mine did. Thank God for that. :D

I'm thinking of getting this Yamaha speaker Yamaha NS-515 F CH, what do you all think about this speaker, is it good for DVD-audio, SACD, music...???
