ok so a couple nights ago my problem of not be able to find a Tv stand for my plasma that was able to fit my gear and keep my one year old out, became my reason to switch to a projector system and put all my gear into a closet/other room.

the last couple days i have been researching projectors and placed myself into the <3k$ market, and from what i have gathered the Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB and Panasonic PT-AE2000U-EC, are excellent choices. i do however have some basic projector related questions.

1. Screens, looking for a fixed Frame, i can make it myself but i cant find a place to buy the material. i do not need an acoustically transparent material. Seen alot of people using paper/fabric from the local craft store, but was wondering if there was a material out there meant for screens i could buy. I am building it myself cause i don't wanna drop 500 bucks on a screen and i seen some really nice DIY out there.

2. does it matter how far i go from the 100" (a size designated in one of the specs for example purposes)diagonal screen size? i know i dont wanna go larger then that
(i assume over a certain size you loose PQ), but what are the effects on PQ of making it smaller, say 80" diagonal.i know that your projector distance plays into this but i am ceiling mounting it and i do not have a limitation on distance from screen to lens. seating is about 11"-12" away from the screen.

3.I am sure i will think of 100 things later, any general comments that you think would be useful to me?

thank you

P.S. What i am looking at in terms of viewing angle?

I recently purchased a Carada screen and I love it! The build quality and finish were amazing. Not one flaw. The guys over at Carada are extremely helpful in selecting the right screen for you. I probably exchanged over 20 emails back and forth, gathering information and deciding on a screen. The screen was also packed very well. Keep all of that in mind if you decide not to use a DIY screen.
