Getting all the wiring started

Hi folks,

I'm a newbie, but have a few questions regarding a new system I'm getting ready to get wired up.

I just bought a Onkyo TX-SR605 reciever and have all my JBL speakers in hand to start the project:

SP6II (inwall) front speakers
SP6CSII (in-cieling) rear speakers
LC1 center channel
P10SW sub

All the speakers are JBL and the distance between the reciver and the speakers are as follows:

Front speakers - 15 feet each
Rear speakers - 40-48 feet each
Center channel - 15 feet
Sub - 5 feet

I have a few questions:
What gauge of speaker wire would you recommend for the setup? I was thinking either 12 or 14

Do the SP6CSII require 1 run of speaker wire or 2 each? Since, there appear to be 2 pair of connections per speaker

Would you recommend that I run everthing to a termination panel in the wall and then have seperate connectors to reciver. Or just run the speaker wire through the walls and then have it direct connect (via banana plugs) to the reciever? I will have everything housed in a cabinet which attached to the wall where all the wiring will be comming into? So no one will see the wiring.

What type of IR setup is required to control everything from a single harmony 880? Since everthing is housed in a closed cabinet: Reciver, Blue Ray, Sat box, Cable box, etc...I want to control all the components but the current remote setup requires a IR outside of the cabinet to do so, what is the proper setup for this?

Thanks for all your assistance and I appreciate an advice/recommendations people would have. BTW, to the actual plasma, I'm running a single HDMI and a set of component cables I believe that should do the job. Don't know if I really need the components cables though....

1) I would just run 12 gauge for all (cl rated for in wall).
2) One pair per is fine, unless you wish to biwire.
3) I like direct connections. Less connections means less things are able to fail. Also less expense. Some think plates are more professional or better looking...I don't. A well group mass (or single pair) of wires emitting from a neatly sized and installed plate looks tops.
4) Rf works great, or simply a remote ir eye that is wired back into the cabinet.

Cheers, John

what brand IR?

Hi John,

What kind of IR would you recommend? is there a make/model which would do the trick?

BTW, thanks for the advice on the wire...I'm going with monprice on their 12 awg. However for the rear speakers, the question was more in-line as to whether I need 2 speaker wires comming to each speaker, since these are setup like a 7.1 for a 5.1 space...each speaker has two pivoting tweeters and one loud speaker.

Cheers
