General Room Acoustic Treatments For Monitoring

I know this isn't the right way to do this, but I will be constantly moving between untreated rooms, and I don't have money to treat all of them. I don't care about aesthetics. I just want the best improvement to cost ratio treatments that can easily and without harm be moved from room to room. I have 60-80$ to spend right now. What should I get?

Is that good, and can I get for cheaper somehow if it is? Would I need anything else beside that? Fabric? Frame? Should I do something else completely?

Some 2" 703 would likely be your best option for that price range. I have some portable ones I take around to people's homes to show them how treatment can help. My wife sowed me some large 'pillow cases' from cheap muslin cloth. They work great and are easy to make

I used the 1" and doubled it for most of mine. I also made a pair of 4" thick and a few 1" panels. I used spray cement to hold them together and I mounted them to 1/8" pegboard, then sprayed a tack coat on top to cover them with muslin. I stapled the material to the backside. I may add muslin to the back to make them look better but they work extremely well.

You'll want to cover it. Fiberglass is a respiratory irritant and fibers will be shed due to handling it. It will also look a lot better if you cover it. Muslin is about $5/yard at any fabric store. They also have other material that would look better, like microfiber suede.

Could I just build a box that covers the speakers all the way to me of 2" 703 to stop room interaction?

It would be very dead in the upper mids and highs and still not enough to take the bass interactions out of the equation. 2" just isn't enough. Plus, not all of the issues are between you and the speakers. Also consider the rear wall and the ceiling.

The rockwool will work just fine and at a lower cost than fiberglass (what they're selling is JM814, not OC703). That's assuming that you don't have to cut any custom sizes or shapes. The fiberglass is a whole lot easier to cut cleanly if you have to do that.

Doing some 4" panels centered on the rear wall and straddling the front corners, coupled with a couple 2" panels behind the speakers and a couple of 2" panels on each side wall for reflections will help quite a bit. The last thing would be 2 4" panels on the ceiling over your head if the ceiling is 8' or less.

Okay, so I'm going to buy the rockwool 2' case of 6, and I'll probably find some really creative/stupid way of keeping them on my wall. I don't think I'll cover them unless I can do them all for 10ish dollars or if you guys insist it's crucial that I do.
