Ok..this thread probably has two or three different locations it could go so let me give all my newbie questions in one spot. Hopefully one person can answer.
1. have new denon avr-1912 that has been in box for over a year..i procrastinate real bad!.house was built with S/S system in walls and jbl speaker system in cabinet. Old AVR broke hence, new denon. First question concerns jbl psw-d110 woolfer. It will not power up when plugged into was. It hasnt been used in previous year but red power light did light up when plugged into wall....yes i have check the fuse..its ok. and yes wall plug good. what may be the problem or fix for this power issue? with all those locations on the back of this woolfer to send signal to, the denon only has an rca type plug for woolfer.. how do i plug the reciver into this woolfer. The set up wizard says to use only this single plug.....
2. the set up wizard says i have to have a network connection to finish the set up...why?
3. Best for last. The set up wizard is not user friendly. it really does not show what some of the sub-programs are used for and the meaning of the various links. No i do not have the dvd that came with the unit. \//// is there any one out there that can walk me through the steps of making this reciever work all my parafanaila equipment???????????

Jezz JohnnieB, I got that manual...notice the numerous possibilities to wire the speaker into my denon?. Well the denon only has one (1) RCA type jack for the woolfer. Does radio shack el. make a cable with two or four leads ending in a single jack plug? ( like that will Rogers statement!)

You need to use the LFE (RCA jack) output on the receiver into an RCA jack input into the subwoofer. Your Denon manual should cover that. A for needing an internet connection to complete the setup, I've never heard of that. Call Denon if the manual isn't clear on that.

If you can't find a manual, you can download a quickstart .pdf at www.retrevo.com

As for your subwoofer, check page five of the manual that comes with it. You only need one connection to an input although a "Y" connector to both inputs won't hurt

My apologies, it read to me as though you didn't have the manual. Your sub has connections for both high pass (powered from your sub) and LFE (line input) which is the sub out from your receiver. As stated, use a simple Y cable, RCA type to go from your receiver to your sub. I don't see a directive on which LFE to use (left or right) if you are using a single input to the sub. It may not make a difference, I would probably try the left LFE input first. You do not need to use the powered speaker in/out connections on your sub, as your receiver has these. Set your high pass and low pass both to 90hz, phase to 0. Even if your crossover points in the Denon aren't set, you won't pump highs into your sub. Set your gain or volume control on your sub at the halfway point. Make sure your speaker connections from your receiver to your speakers are correct, + to +, - to -. Do not assume they are. This is a very easy mistake, I have done it many times.
At this point, if inputs are correct for your paraphernalia, you should be able to get sound.
If you can, skip the setup wizard for now. You should be able to get playback without it. When using the setup wizard, it is probably wanting a network or internet connection to set up rhapsody or other internet based programs. If this is the case, that can be dealt with after you get sound.
My hypothesis on the red light on the sub, is that it is in standby mode waiting for a signal, OR, it has gotten a signal it didn't like. I suspect it has the ability to see a bad connection. Are you running your speakers from your sub? If you are, hook them to your receiver. If not, do you have a proper connection from your Denon to the LINE input and only the line input on your sub.

Here is a PDF on the receiver, in case you don't have it.

Hope this helps, if not, I need more info to better understand your situation. The Will Rogers thing is kind of a self reflection :D
