General Help Needed

Hi, I'm new to the forum. Thanks for any help you can give.

Here's a bit about my current situation:

I have recently purchased an RCA A/V Receiver. I also purchased a VHS/DVD Recorder combo. I have hooked my VHS/DVD recorder and IPOD into the receiver. The VHS/DVD set plays VHS and DVD's fine. The IPOD set up also works. Additionally, I have a DVR Box (Motorola MOXI) that gives me cable and things like that. All this is shown on a 32" RCA TV.

Here's the problem: I cannot record anything off the TV with my VHS/DVD player when run thru the receiver. Whenever I tape, I get a black screen (I can watch VHS and/or DVD's on with the syste).

What I've tried:

I did hook the VHS/DVD recorder straight into the DVR box which did work fine (I could tape TV shows onto DVD. However, I cannot do it when I run everything thru the Receiver.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

If the receiver has any Video outs, you'd have to run the video from the cable box to the receiver and from the receiver's video out to the vhs/dvd recorder. You are probably already using the one labeled 'monitor' out or something similar to get the video to the TV.

See if the any of the other video inputs on the receiver have corresponding video outs.

I've recorded through my receiver in the past. I had to hook up the VHS outputs to the VHS inputs on the reciever and the VHS outputs on the reciever to the VHS inputs on the VHS. Does that make sense???

Pretty much what MDS said, with a little more confusion, hope it makes sense.
