A friend's son wants a "gaming monitor". As the guy she knows who knows a little about AV, she came to me for advice.
I don't know anything about gaming (and am weak on the video side of AV).
This is for Christmas and the budget is $200.
1) Any suggestions/great deals?
2) I have a monitor and a smaller HDMI TV laying around which I would give her, but I am wondering if these would show major deficiencies?
3) Is a gaming monitor really different from a standard monitor (at a $200 price point)? If so, what makes it a gaming monitor? I am kind of thinking that a gaming monitor is like a gaming computer, as in the difference doesn't really start to happen unless you are willing to spend more for specialized performance. Right or wrong?
Gaming platform is x-box, fwiw.
