I heard that when playing on a PS3 online their is LAG sometimes when playing on a DLP tv.... can anyone chime in on this... is it true, do the new DLP's have this problem too? I wanted to get a 65" DLP to play games on and im worried about this, its a deal breaker for me.Thanks

I have a 60inch Mitsu HD DLP and I haven't noticed any lag during local and/or online play. (gaming looks amazing on the mitsu by the way).

Buy away!

There are TVs that have lag, but not technologies that have lag. All televsions must process incoming video which can introduce many milliseconds of delay, and ALL displays have some level of delay. But, some displays have a 'game' mode which can help cut down on processing and improve overall response time.

It is varied as to which sets have the best response time, but DLP is one of the technologies which can be implemented with 240hz video if done properly, so it sure as heck is not the technology itself which would introduce delays.

Ok, so give it to me in english doc... So the dlp tv that has the highest refresh rate will have least lag right? So which brand do u recommend?

No, that's not at all what I said.

What I said was that ANY TV with fast processing, which has nothing to do with refresh rate, will take the input you feed it and get it up on screen fastest.

I'll try an analogy:
A car that goes 150mph is not what you need. What you need is a car that goes from 0-60 fastest. When you look at refresh rate of the display, you are looking at the top end speed, but you are ignoring accelleration. What you need to focus on is the accelleration of the vehicle. How quickly can it get going from zero to 60. A 240hz display could have a 50ms processing delay, while a 60hz display could have a 7ms delay.

ALL digital displays have a delay, so the question is 'How long is that delay?'

I am not a gamer so I don't have any specific recommendations, but I would check a few gaming specific forums for some recommendations on this. My main focus is front projection, not rear, so I don't know as much about the rear projection DLP models. I would read some specs on different models and see if they have a delay time published.
