Speaker systems up for your consideration

my original budget for my HT speakers is up to 1k. I've found a couple that i was considering for more. The Aperion Intimus 4T Hybrid system for 1500 and Definitive PRO-800 for 1200. I'm thinking speakers are pretty much future proof no? The systems for under 1k i'm looking at are the TSC TSAT-2000, Mirage Nanosat, Polk RM95, EMPTEK EF-50, or Pure Acoustics Dream Tower system. I'm researching the heck out of this before tax return time. I don't want to buy anymore speakers for my HT for at least 10 years. OPINIONS AND VIEWS WANTED!

Your budget is a bit too small for a set of good speakers. All the speakers that you listed are pretty much, well “budget” speakers. But to each his own.

It is very unlikely that lots of things with speakers themselves will change. We may get Bluish Ray DVD or something and from 5.1 will become 7.1 or 9.5 but speakers will stay the same.
Also, a good set of speakers should last you 20 years or more without any problems.

Based on this:

I gather that you are not limiting yourself to small satellites size speakers.

I believe we have some rabid SVS fans here that might point you to their $1,000 surround solution. I am a rabid Primus fan. I admit it. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the site but that search function should get you a ton of opinions on this stuff.

Your budget is plenty to start enjoying movies and music on a level that many would envy. It's unfortunate that we can't all afford to spend that much on our speaker wire but life goes on. :D

Edit: Here's what I did with the Primus speakers:
