Hi Guys,
I have a Teac AG790 and have been using it for the past couple of months connected to a speaker switch running speakers over the whole house. I also have a small little all in one technics unit which connects to two pairs of the whole house speakers.
baiscally, my first question is should this cause a problem as there are two speaker swtiches being used and would this casue the system problems as sometimes I get audio out of the speakers which are not conected to the one switch but i'm guessing the signal must be passing through the bathroom speakers to the speaker swich and then pass the signal to the other speakers.

the thing is it has all been running fine apart from music where i wouldnt expect it but I can kind of understand why this is happeing but on saturday I was listening to music over the whole house and it just stopped, checked the amp and it was dead, checked the fuse in the plug and it was fine, took the lid of the amp and there was a dead fuse in there, bought some replacement fuses today and put one in, turned it on with nothing connected, pop, went as soon as i turned it on, so next effort i plugged in the speaker switch turning one set of speakers on, pop, went again,

next effort, i just disconected the switch and just plugged in one set of speakers and exaclty the same hapened again,

4 fuses out of a pack of 10 and thought i would seek some pro advice.
anyone got any advice?
it may still be under warranty but i did buy it second hand but have the original reciept.

It sounds as though it needs service. Take it or send it to the closest Teac repair center.

You may be demanding too much from the unit. The Teac is a good receiver, but it does have it's limits. I would check the impedance with a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) before hooking up a new receiver. Simply activate all of the speakers on the switches you have hooked up, then check for the impedance at the end of the wires that would hook to the receiver.

ok, I hooked up the multimeter and it gives me two differnt readings for the L /R channels, i get 6.6 and 1.9.

what exaclty does this mean? I'm guessing they really should be the same.
i get wierd readings when i turn on different sets of speakers
