Funny letter from Toshiba

I got a funny little customer response card/letter from Toshiba this weekend thought I'd share it.... Maybe some of you have gotten the same. In short it said sorry for the wait but the 5 free HD DVD's you requested are back ordered so they won’t be shipping until Sept 15, but if you don't want to continue waiting just fill out and return this card to cancel your order.

Why on earth would I want to cancel my order for free movies that I’ve already been waiting months for? Is the anticipation too much for some people that they would be better off knowing their movies are never going to come, rather than hurry home every day to check the mail box?

Maybe they figure that it's worth a shot. After all, x% of our population is so stupid that they need warnings on their lighters not to put them in their pocket before the flame goes out.

Yeah. That's akin to cancelling a VW order because the "free" Trek bike is backordered. Nothing's free. But I do appreciate your tenacity and story jake.

I went through something similar after buying a set of Mizuno golf clubs this past spring. Mizuno was giving away free stand-bags to anyone who purchased a set of irons. They said..... "allow 4-6 weeks" for delivery, but after 8 weeks, I still had no golf bag!!....I wanted to cancel the free bag!!

LOL...

However, they didn't sent me a letter asking me to cancel my freebie... LOL

I bet you get a thank you letter explaining how your back order has now been canceled. Be sure to write back asking for a refund.

Tell them that it's ok. They can just send you $149.95 so you can go purchase the 5 titles you wanted. I'm sure currency isn't going on back order anytime soon.

Wouldn't it have been a kick if instead of: "but if you don't want to continue waiting just fill out and return this card to cancel your order." it would have been: "but if you want to continue waiting just fill out and return this card."

That would be priceless.
