Just got these three AV123 X-CS durring this past week, they sound great, but having these speakers makes me realize how underpowered my budget sony reciever is. That will def be the next uprage. I found those stands that they are on at k-mart last night, they were dirt cheap and actually work out pretty well, and will work after I move from this apartment and don't have the fireplace hearth anymore. I started putting all this together back in october, i've endup getting much more than I planned on when I started out, but I love it, and can't wait to add more.

Nice, funky set-up there! It looks like your speakers are plenty efficient though (90.5 db/w/m) at 8 ohms.

Looking good man - it's making me wish I had gone the x-cs route now. :( Ah, oh well, I'm sure I'm not done with my last speaker purchase ever. At 90db+ sensitivity I agree, those things should sing even with your Sony receiver. My SVS's have a sensitivity of 85dB (87dB for the center) and my ol' Yamaha V361 still manages to push them with just enough oomph that it still sounds great.

Anyway, nice to see my second choice as a working system at last. :D

Your right it does sound pretty darn good the way it is. I am able to turn it up louder than before and it still sounds nice and clear. But I did notice after watching and entire movie at those high levels that my sony reciever was hot to the touch, hotter than I've ever noticed it before. I could be reasonable and turn the volume down to "normal levels" but what would the fun in that be. I like my movies loud, especially anything with action. So i'm thinking if I want to keep listening at those levels a reciever upgrade will be in my future, but atleast for now i'm sticken with the sony, gotta save some money.
Halon451- I'm sure your SVS speakers sound great, and that subwoofer has to kick some a*s

Thats one of the dangers of this hobby. You buy one thing and next thing you know, you are replacing everything, modifying the room, moving furniture, getting a new place, etc.

It looks like you are off to a great start and you have done your homework.

That is always good to see.

Congratulations!
