I am making available a fully restored and serviced Quad 22 preamp. It includes a power supply for 120 Volt operation. This unit was designed and built by Geoff Kremer owner of Service Sound in Bexhill on Sea, Sussex UK. Geoff has specialized in vintage audio restoration. I have known him for many years. The unit now has RCA outs. The power supply has a smoothed DC supply for the HT and LT heater supplies. Normally the heater circuits are AC, but I specified rectification of the heater circuits, to produce an absolutely superbly low noise floor and extend tube life. This unit sounds stunning. I bought this unit in the UK this year and had it sent to Geoff. He has done an expert job, the unit functions beautifully and has a totally inaudible noise floor.
Above is the unit next to my original Quad 22. It is the one in the middle. It is next to its power supply. The original on the left still has the LP Eq can and the line tape can.
These have been dispensed with and the standard LP MM RIAA equalization is now internal. The tape input has been converted to a standard line input.
This is the front view.
Top view case removed.
This is the unit while it was installed in my turntable case.
This is an outstanding preamp. In addition to RIAA equalization the Quad contains all the equalization for pretty much any 78 rpm disc from the pre LP era. These are switchable by different combinations of the right three buttons. This makes it an ideal preamp for anyone wanting to play 78 rpm discs and these units are sought after by archivists.
All of Peter Walker's preamp designs are ideal for LP reproduction. The reason is that the are turnover filters at 10K, 7K and 5K switched by the right most knob, and the slope of these filters in infinitely variable by the knob to the immediate left of the filter selector. This allows for quick and fast amelioration of HF distortion in less than stellar recordings.
These units the ideal preamp for vinyl and 78 rpm enthusiasts.
These units were produced from 1959 to 1967. By serial number this unit was made in Huntingdon UK in 1961, and so is now 60 years old. The units were deigned to be powered from two Quad II 15 watt tube power amps. Each left and right preamp was powered from its respective power amp.

This is a first class unit, fully restored this year, by one of the world's greatest experts in audio vintage restoration. I have put the unit though it paces and it is a truly excellent unit, ideal for any disc enthusiast.
I was not originally intending to restore my Quad 22, but this unit was so good, I thought it a shame not to make it available. So I had mine restored and another power supply built, and now I'm making this other fully restored unit and power supply available to enthusiasts and collectors.
I am asking $1500.00 USD ono.
