FS: Philharmonic 2's (black, asian cabinets). $1800

I have a pair of black Philharmonic 2's (Will add pics shortly) here in Tampa. They have grills for the top portion, but the grills don't really attach well because of the design of the driver installation.

I'll do a through inspection for imperfections when I take pics, but these are sitting in my living room, and I am fussy, and I've seen no minor marks (there are definitely no major ones).

I have all the shipping boxes that came with these, but I'd really love to sell locally. Am willing to deliver / meet within a couple of hours.

In short: I'd like to move the Salk Veracity ST's, and the wife has made selling these a prerequisite.

These are no longer in production, and the Phil 3's (which differ only in bass driver) are $3300 on the website.

Now that winter is upon us, how about a RI delivery? :D

That's the bang for the buck one. I mean the Phil2. Those go and Chris' stay. Interesting.

You're just not going to believe this ... :)

Don't ask me how I got that 'cause I'll tell ya. :D

I do have the boxes. Delivering in person would destroy the profit once the medical bills for the multiple horrific crashes in the ice were paid. Wouldn't it be more fun to drive to FL to pick them up?

Why? Did you want to buy the Chris customs?

Yes. I know the Phils should sound just like the SS8s, and so much like my Salk's but they don't (to my ear). Combine the lower WAF; and I'm gonna get some Veracity ST's, or maybe a used HT2-TL pair. The wife loves those cabinets. Gotta sell these (and the 801s, and the GMA Europas, and maybe the Paradigm S2's) first.

I still can't afford them. :) ... but how much with the amps and everything? :D
Those were some high times, weren't they? Be glad you never heard the omni poles.

I think I would have to hide them at Rick's behind Mark's Maggies.

It's like you're trying to get me divorced and I'm not even married.

Doug heard those SS8's and felt the big love.

The most current price for a base pair of Phil2s is/was $3100/pair.
The Phil 3s are/were $3500 for a base pair.
Your $1800 asking price is very reasonable, generous even.

I am willing to entertain offers of more. No offer is too high.

Tell your wife to go back and rejoin Al Qaeda. ;) A man should be able to add to his toys, not swap 'em.

Seriously, this is probably the best bargain on the net atm for a quality pair of speakers. Someone will be getting great sound at a great price. Good luck with the sale, Jerry.

In fairness to her: my wife has been pretty tolerant of my hobby, and the thousands that has gone into it.

In fairness to me: I will not be relaying your suggestion :p

I am a very big fan of the Curly cherry on my SCST's (the ones from the Audioholics GTG a couple years back) and may go the same route with the Veracity-STs.

A bump for some fine speakers.

I'm not buying, but I thought I'd give this thread a bump :D.

What kind of finish are you planning for the Veracity STs? Jim just posted photos of two new walnut Veracity STs:

Orange burled walnut Brad's Veracity ST's in orange burled walnut .

And marbled claro walnut Rabban's Veracity ST's in marbled claro walnut .

These are some really fine finishes, I think I am in love here.

Did Chris actually complete those? I thought I remember their being all sorts of drama over them. You make me want to leave work early fire up the table saw and finish the electronics for my speakers.

Yes. The speakers were completed and are operational.

One of these days: I'm gonna get someone with more knowledge than I to help tune in the crossover more... and I'm thinking of having an artist friend improve the veneer (it's a beautiful wood; but the finishing is merely B&W-like rather than Salk-like).

So far no takers on the Philharmoics.

Send it to Dennis and have him design and build a passive 3 way xo for the top end and sell me the DCX2496 for cheap to match the DEQ2496 that I don't know how to use.

It has crossed my mind.

Though it would work better with a 4-way, not 3-way. :p

There are 2 active crossovers and 4 amps involved.

The problem with a passive xo being used for the bass is that it's expensive and non-linear. I might be making that up but I don't think so. My thought was to actively cross the sub like you have and make a passive 3-way crossover for the top end. You (or me) could run that with a Marantz MA700/MA500 combination per side. Small form factor, no dcx and 4 channels of amplification freed up ... and a DM blessing.
