Used as dedicated bass amps in the Stereophile Class A NHT T6 speaker system, but suitable for full-range use as well. Measured by
Stereophile to do 216W/8Ω, 350W/4Ω, and 440W/2Ω.
RCA and balanced inputs, and has two options for remote turn-on/standby (12V trigger, signal auto-sensing circuit).
Because NHT is a responsible and conscientious firm, the A1 is safety certified by an
OSHA-approved NRTL.
(Unlike a certain cheap knockoff of the A1.)
The only thing close to a downside of this amp is that Input sensitivity is on the low side. That means that you’ll want a preamp that can put out at least 1.5Vrms-2Vrms. Most sources will be fine. An unbalanced 2x4 miniDSP board will not. (The balanced miniDSP board, or an 8-output miniDSP board, will both be fine.)
