With all of today's normal AV processors and receivers with multi channels of amps ,,,, does anyone feel that any normal 90 to 110 watt av receivers are capable of making a decent 6-inch or 8-inch bookshelf speaker reproduce the 80 to 150 Hertz range fully ??
Curious

That would depend on the speaker and the desired spl levels at what distance....

You have REALLY over-simplified the question here.

I would generally be looking for the magic number of 100Wpc for any AVR or Amp. Perhaps less for a desktop setup or a small room.

Some bookshelf speakers will NEVER be able to produce that range, regardless of the power that you feed them, it's a matter of physics. Sensitivity of the speakers come into play here too.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Seemingly if a speaker capable of 80 to 150 received a 80 to 150 signal they would be able to output it even with 50wpc amp...I'm thinking it would take a really inefficient speaker not to. So yes, I agree it would depend on the speaker, but wouldn't it be abnormal if it didn't?

The question was pretty vague. I think the OP could 'splain further :)

Okay let's try this
I have the new Denon 6300 and I have Paradigm V2 on the front and the big Paradigm Center. Keep in mind I have two subs but they're off right now I'm just doing some experimenting.
If I set them all to full range, yes they put out some decent bass and it don't sound bad. If I cross them at 40 of course the low note starts to go away. if I cross them at 60 of course the note goes away more. And crossed at at of course the low-low note goes away even more. I know that this is the subs job and I'm probably way over thinking this. I guess I just want some opinions on what should be expected from the fronts and the center.. I know room Acoustics and such go into this effect.
I know that it takes power to drive a speaker and make it do what it supposed to do.

And before you say it, I have two 12 inch hsu,s on the way..lol
I just want to know that when I cross all the "smalls" at 80 Hertz I'm not going to be missing anything

If your unit can provide a crossover without subs, it's in effect just cutting off some of the low frequencies with a high pass filter for your speakers. It is the subs job when applying a crossover and your subs are likely much more capable than your speakers in that range (but not familiar with your speakers particularly either). In my Denon 4520 if I tell it no subs then it changes my fronts to large....and thus no crossover applied....

Once you have the subs connected you won't be missing anything.

What would you be missing? If you run Audessey, your speakers will possibly get crossed even higher. What matters is that you are getting a good blend to the subs and you like the way it sounds.
