hello
fairly new to to posting and have gotten lots of good help and direction so far! thank you all

i am currently upgrading my home theater and need some direction on how to design the front screen wall.

im installing a Seymour XD with 3 JTR behind it, and 4 JTR for back and side surround. on the bottom installing 2 x captivators 2400.

once i do this i will have about 18 inches on both sides of the screen to fill in.
-i could either build a THX baffle wall (expensive)
-i could fill in either side with velvet black drapes/bass traps behind drapes

which one do you think yield the best performance? are traps good behind velvet drapes? anything else you can pick off i could do better?

Beautiful theater!

But, without acoustic measurements, you are flying blind! I wouldn't do anything until you know you have a reason to.

I prefer the bass control in the corners as thick as you can get it. Drapes will be fine to mask it. Don't forget to do the whole front wall too at least 2" thick.
