Ok so in the midst of buying a washer, wife see's a TV setup at the store that has front highs (which I tried to convince her we needed but yeah) so anyway now she says why don't we have them and now wants them! A long while ago there was a thread I read but can't find so I need some help!

1-What kind of speakers do you use? I have a set of 301's for my main speakers and actually have a friend that has a pair of 201's he will off to me for 50$. Will those work?

2-I know they are "suppose" to be at a 45 to the listening area, but how wide do I put them in relation to the front's?

Any other advice I need? THANKS ALL IN ADVANCE!

the 201s will work, but, to keep the Heights timber matched to the Fronts get another set of 301s.

As high up on the wall when following the 45 degree angle from main listening position. Like this,

I have assumed Audessy DSX type speaker placement. If you are not using Audessy processing, follow the directions in the User Manual for your receiver/pre-pro.

Agarwalro, thank you much! I was affraid you were going to tell me I needed 301's :) Wasn't sure if the 201's and 301's were still considered "timber matched"

Yes I got the 45 degree angle thing but was sure if I needed to move my L & R in narrower to get the Heights to be outside them, there will only be about 1' difference in width with my current setup and that is putting them in the top corners of the wall

Yes Audessy is in use (who would live with out it :D I will never since I have it!)

They will not be matched since they are completely different designs, with 201 being a 2 way and 6.5" woofer while the 301 is a 2 way (with 2 tweeters) and 8" woofer.

On the subject of moving the Mains, 1" will not be discernable :).

If you do not have the Wides, try those first. Per the Audessy website, Wides before Heights. For the wides timber matching will be critical to ensure you have a good front sound stage.

Will going from a series IV to series V still keep them timber matched? I do believe the make up of the speaker is the same
