Hello All,

For the past 4 years i have been using the TX-NR609. I just upgrade to TX-RZ740. All speakers calibration are at 12 but volume is terribly so low.

With the 609, with the intellivolume at +12dB, my volume was always 20 - 25
With the 740 with (my input volume ?), i need to go till 45 to listen some decent, please help me out.
on the 740 i need to go till 45 to listen what i get at 20-25 on 609
i have attached some screenshots so you could guide me in a better setup.

many thanks and stay safe.

Why were you bumping intellivolume to max before? Just to make the master volume number lower? That would make no sense. A master volume reading of 45 on the absolute scale isn't unusual at all. Your current unit seems to call it input volume rather than intellivolume as a guess from the third screen shot. The use of Intellivolume was more to level various inputs so they were all roughly playing at the same volume per the master volume control.

Also curious, why use your mains as full range as well as double bass? You have a sub?

Hello Lovinthehd, thanks a mil for reply. i am just a novice in this field
- Why were you bumping intellivolume to max before? Just to make the master volume number lower? YES
- input volume rather than intellivolume YES
- why use your mains as full range as well as double bass? i did as it was written tower speakers (Jamo 609 pix attached)
- You have a sub? YES
- i use this airtel receiver (pix attached) to get indian chanels in Saudi Arabia. with 609 i would never raise beyond vol 25 but with the RZ740, i raise till 55 to have the same listen i would have with 609.
- i use a PC to play iptv on vlc
- please also help me on the crossovers

now only, i started to see professionals like you talking about external amps (?) to regulate the speakers and other woow extra equipment

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You're just playing a fairly meaningless number game with the volume numbers....it doesn't change anything but display a lower number, it doesn't magically extend the range of the volume control. This article discusses the difference and definition of the absolute and reference volume scales as used in many avrs when calibrated to the standard (as used in movies particularly) https://www.soundandvision.com/content/‘relative’-vs-‘absolute’-volume-what’s-difference

Just because you have towers doesn't mean you should necessarily run them full range when using a subwoofer. I run my towers as "small" with a crossover because my subs handle that part of the spectrum. I don't care for the double bass setting either, but some do. I'd try setting the speakers to small, turn off the double bass and start with a crossover of 80hz and experiment from there. In the end it's your preference that counts....
