I have been listening to a lot of audio books lately on my long drive home from work and I have recently discovered some great stories that have yet to be made into a movie. What are some books that you have read and you think would make a great film and who would you like to direct it and or star in it.

My first choice would be to see a really good adaption of Enders Game and I think Chris Columbus could pull it off with some really good child stars.

I would also like to see a faithful telling of Dracula. There has not been one yet that even comes close to the book. It might take Peter Jackson to pull it off though.

the book that comes to mind for me is Max Barry's Jennifer Government.
I have no idea which actors/actresses I'd like to see in it, though. As for directors, maybe the one who directed Bourne Identity?

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card... been waiting YEARS while Hollywood puts out the Brady BUnch 2.5 and Dukes of Hazard...

For me, I would love to see the Ringworld series, Peter Jackson at the helm. I would of course love to see the Hobbit by Jackson as well.

I would love to see The Hobbit too, but I don't think it can match up to the LOTR series. There isn't as much action, and the story isn't as epic, and those are the things that Hollywood feeds on, so I'm not getting my hopes up. But I really would like to see it!

The Hobbit is almost entirely self contained and it would be a perfect "prequel" to LOTR, since that is what it was... In the EEs they touched a bit on at least Gollum's story from the Hobbit though... I think there is more than enough story in it to make a worth while movie and people (like me) would definitely go see it if Jackson did it.

I just finished listening to Enders Shadow, and Scott Card had an update at the end of the book. Seems that he had trouble adapting a script of Ender Game that would work in a film. Someone he knows suggested that he combine both Enders Game and Enders Shadow into one movie since they are the same story anyway but from two different views. He loved the idea and said it worked much better. Warner Brothers has the rights and Wolfgang Peterson is supposed to be the director. I also read this at several different places on the net. One is here http://www.philoticweb.net/movie/

and look at this, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400403/

So maybe at long last we will get it, I hope it's good. Reportedly Scott Card has a lot of control so it should, at least, be faithful to the source.

I always thought "Splinter of The Minds Eye" was a good story, Guess it would be to late now though. I certainly would not want lucas to direct it.

I forgot all about that book, I remember looking at it in Junior High and checking it out even, just never got around to reading it.

Just checked itunes to see if they have the audiobook, no luck. They do have Ender's shadow though.......

Eureka!! Found it on Audible.com.:D

I'd like to see Nabakov's Invitation to a Beheading made into a film. And although there isn't the faintest chance of it happening I'd like to see Peter Jackson do a Dragonlance Trilogy series. Two comic books I'd like to see in high budget style with competent actors & directors: Alan Moore's The Watchmen and Marvel Comic's Silver Surfer.

Being a fan of Tom Clancy, I always wanted to have "Red Storm Rising" made into film. Granted now days a movie about the Cold War wouldn't work. Besides, Hollywood butchered the last Clancy novels.

My next favorite would be "Icefire" by Judith & Garfield Reeves Stevens. Or maybe "Flight of the Old Dog" by Dale Brown.

I just finished Cell by Stephen King. I thought that was a great book, and would make a great movie. I love end of the world movies.

I've been waiting for a movie of Michael Moorcock's Elric for decades! I had the pleasure of meeting him at a Comic-con years ago and asked him why there hadn't been a movie made. He said that he wouldn't relinquish control of production, which I think is very smart. He said that once a long time ago, they were close to putting something together, but when the producers told him they wanted Brad Pitt for Elric, he pulled the plug. I'm soooooooooo sick of Hollywood BUTCHERING books! About the ONLY good movie adaptation I've ever seen, was The Green Mile. But I've heard that they are finally going to make an Elric movie. I heard they were getting the guy who played Silas the albino monk in The DaVinci Code to play Elric.

PLEASE let this happen!!

Herman Hesse Steppenwolf it was done once but I'd like to see an update

Timothy Leary Flashback

I would love to see someone adapt Aldous Huxley's Doors of Perception but I don't know how well it would translate to the screen. Same goes for Ram Das' Be Here Now, they could do a short with he and Leary giving the Dali Lama lsd and that would be enough for me.
