j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 23, 2007 #3 I haven't hooked it up at my place yet, but I heard it at his place. It has a very tight and clean sound to it. It uses the same amp I use for my Tempest (which the same guy also built) but it didn't seem to have the same amount of output. I am going to fire it up tonight and I'll have a better impression of it then.

j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 23, 2007 #6 I've used damping in all my subs, most of which were sealed as well.
j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 23, 2007 #7 Holy smokes, this thing has about as much output as my Tempest... It sounds amazingly good.
j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 23, 2007 #9 I just threw in a few movies to see how it was, didn't run any numbers. I don't know where my test tones disc is....have to burn another I guess. Tried The Haunting DTS-ES and War of the Worlds with the obvious scenes, and it really has a lot of oomph to it. He had it BFD'ed when I heard it at his place, so it was probably losing some output due to EQing. It handles the lowest stuff very well too - door rattling, room pressurizing output.

j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 23, 2007 #11 I didn't ask him actually, but I imagine it was $500 or less. Drivers about $200 shipped, amp $175, wood, glue, hardware, $2.00 of foam, etc....

AVRat Audioholic Ninja Jan 24, 2007 #12 That's cool, I'd be interested in seeing pics of his IB construction project.
j_garcia Audioholic Jedi Jan 24, 2007 #13 I think it will take him a few weeks, and looks like an interesting one. Single 18" that uses an ouside storage area for the rear chamber, fed by ~1K watts. Stealth install on the inside, with a vent cover so it looks like an A/C duct.
