Former owner does not remember access code to Xantech system

I have a property that has just been purchased with an extensive built in system. As with many installed during the recession the original installers are not easy to find. The Direct TV folks are telling my buyer that they need an access code to reprogram the AV sound system, theater room, remote control and programming file to the multi room audio. The former owner has no idea what they are asking for. Can that information be obtained from Xantech without a charge? Their current installers are acting like it's a huge deal and that it will be very expensive to overcome not having that code. Is this a legitimate issue?

Without involving the original installer can this be overcome?
Thanks for any help.

I really think Xantech would be the best ones to be able to answer this question.

Yup, ask Xantech and let us know what they say.

If I were purchasing a home, I would consider a pre-installed sound system as a bonus, but I certainly would not even slightly entertain the idea that it adds value to the property.

Not until I had ample time to investigate the pre-installed system and give it my personal thumbs up.

What I'm saying is that this stuff might be nice, might not. Might have been installed correctly, might not.

Either way, I would not pay any premium for a house with a pre-installed system. I would bet that most of the members on this sight would agree with me on that.

Now, the average person probly won't know better. Average person will see Bose and think they are getting a good system with the house
