First off, I have to say THANK YOU to everyone involved with or associated with this site. I have just now registered but I have lurked here for awhile slowly gaining insight into this wonderful hobby/passion that we all share. In particular, the info debunking some of the myths concerning speaker cables was extremely insightful -- although I was "duped" into buying a bi-wire set from AQ I won't be "upgrading" to their multi-thousand $ DBS systems in the future (my wife in particular thanks you). Secondly, I am no electrical engineer but the technical nature of your findings are simultaneously fascinating and bewildering -- definitely a good read while digesting beer. I had never heard of the company Tripplite before perusing this website -- I literally just finished typing in my credit card #'s to order their line conditioner/voltage regulator (for half the price no less) that VASTLY outperforms my crap *** "reference" line conditioner. Also, I had never understood the various issues surrounding current gen 1080p tv's/HD DVD/blu-ray until I read the articles posted here.

In short, you guys rock.

Keep up the good work,
Charles

My stuff: speakers are all Definitive Technologies -- BP7000SC mains, C/L/R 2500 Center, four BPVX/P surrounds, two Supercube Reference subs, Denon 7.1 3805 reciever, 61" Samsung 3rd gen DLP, AQ interconnects, and soon to be arriving Tripplite line conditioners :) .

Welcome Chuckker

Yeah I've learned a lot from this site as well and also confirmed what I believed to be a lot of BS out there, ESPECIALLY the speaker cable snake oil stuff. If you haven't seen them yet check out http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ for quality interconnects at very reasonable prices with great service. Or better yet read the several DIY articles here and you can build the exact same interconnects anytime you need them and save even more money.

You could sell your AQ stuff on Ebay and use the money left over to buy bluejeans stuff. :)

And yes, thanks for the kind words.

Second Thanks From Me

I also want to thank everybody in this forum. I learnt a lot from this forum. I have reached several enlightments since i got here:
  • I was always looking for Bose at eBay for a steal offer, I didn't know "at that time" Bose was a real steal (I mean Bose steal our money from their crappy , overpriced stuff)
  • I am technically and financially challenged member here, I learnt a lot on accoustics 101.

I started in this forum when I got a $50 deal from a friend, he sold me his Sony HT System and Aiwa 5-disc CD player. Hey, it was a good deal, Lol, new price was at least $150 for the HT alone. It was a 5.1 channel system and I was looking around on how to set it up. Then i stumble on this forum. I read and read and read. My wife was happy with the HT (she doesn't care that much actually).
Then I learnt that my stuff sucks (not many people here like Sony HT), then I heard about Harman/Kardon and I bought myself one H/K 7.1 channel system (HK AVR235, HKTS 3/7, DVD HK22). I love it, at least it is a step up from my Sony craps. Wife, not so happy. I spent more than 10 times this time. We watched Harry Potter first time with it. I can sense a lil' bit of her approval. I know now that I am drooling on the Marantz gears, but that is not likely to happen within 5 years range from now.:D. So, all said..Thank you all.

Welcome:)

Now you have to also subscribe to Consumers Report. If you had, you would know about Tripp Lite before now:D
Oh, don't forget a subscription to Skeptical Inquirer as well. There is another world of voodoo, mythology, bs, urban legend well beyond the audio world:p

Yes, great forum and great members

As if the founders and the members of this forum needed any more validity, I've been crawling in attics and throwing voltmeters and strippers in disgust at my tool boxes since alarm systems used keyswitches and Dolby was the cool new thing.

I've been realizing that there's more that I don't know than I do know.

Thank you Clint, Gene, mtrycrafts, wmx, Sheep, and all you brainiacs on this forum. Honestly, this has helped me be a better AV Integration guy.

Can I have another chiclet now?

We are all here to learn and am sure been in your shoes at one time or another. Yes, this is a great site to learn if one wants to learn, of course. This cannot be force fed. It appears you are eager to learn more.
