A home theater system consists of at least a receiver, 5 carefully placed speakers around the listening area, and several cables connecting each of its components, not to mention the space it requires. For some people, that is just too much to handle and that is why they look for a simpler and easier audio solutions. A soundbar on the other hand, can be placed almost anywhere, it doesn't require careful positioning, it uses fewer cables and you can have it ready in a matter of minutes. The Dimension Soundbar from Focal is an example of this.
This unit has a wide dynamic range thanks to its 26mm five ultra-flat patented speaker drivers. This unit is 45.5" wide and features five 3.9" drivers, and six amplified channels for a total of 450 watts of power. And what about the extra amplifier? That sixth amplifier channel is provided just in case you decide to buy the optional Dimension Sub that was designed to fit directly behind the sound bar and extend its horizons. Ok, back to the main unit. Two pairs of lateral speaker drivers are used for reproducing the bass (bass-reflex loading) with two ports on each side.
As for its construction, this soundbar features an aluminium mono bloc chassis for added strength. One of my favorite features is its tactile and discreet interface which can be turned on in just a wave of the hand. This will enable you to adjust the volume and activate the Night mode.
For added convenience the Dimension soundbar can be connected to a tablet or a smartphone. This way you can listen to your audio and video files adding the optional Bluetooth® aptX® Universal Wireless Receiver.
