I just purchased an Onkyo Tx-sr606 receiver. I curretly have a 6.1 speaker system. 6 speaker and a sub woofer. Could any one tell me ohw to wire speakers for 6.1 sytem for this receiver. Everything seems to show 7.1 or 5.1.DAH

You will need to hook the rear speaker to either the left or right back/rear surround terminal. I'm not sure which one, the manual will tell you. It may even be printed on the back of the receiver next to one of those connectors.

After that you'll need to go into the manual set-up and tell the receiver that you have only 1 not 2 rears. Or you can most likely run the auto set-up and let the receiver learn it on it's own.

Onkyo manuals are generally above par as far as explaining these things in comparison with Yamaha and Denon.

Check out page 16 of the manual to get started on it. The note on there reads:

"If you’re using only one surround back speaker, connect it to the left (L) SURR BACK SPEAKERS terminals."​

You can run the auto set-up to determine which speakers you have (as Nomo said), or you can do it manually. Check out pages 72 and 73 of the owner's manual for instructions on how to set it up for only one surround back channel.
