FM Signal Internal Disconnect

What would cause the signal input from a FM antenna to a FM tuner to electronically "disconnect" after a few minutes? All physical connections are good but after about 10 minutes the signal "drops" and I'm left with only static. It's a reliable but old T-17 Yamaha. Fixable?

Does the signal come back after you re-tune it? Is the unit cold when it starts working, then after 10 min of warmup it dies, or is it already warmed up?

Thanks for reply.

Mostly the unit is at room temp when I turn it on. After about 10 min there is a "crackling" sound in the speakers as if the connection was being physically moved. Then continuous static. Trying later, after about an hour, I can get a signal again.
