Floor standing fronts or bookshelfs?

I know this has probably been discussed before so I apologize in advance but I would think every situation is a little different.

Here's the situation:

I have Polk S10's that I've had for over 10 years I'd say. I got them as my main speakers to "rock the house" back then. LOL I also have a Polk Satellite system- I think the satellites are rm2300's, center is cs1751, and the sub is rm1295.

I don't think the wife would let me use the S10's as my front speakers in our new HT setup in the basement because they are floor standing and we probably don't have the space anyway. I also didn't know if they would be a good match for my smaller center channel since the S10's are probably "better" quality speakers.

So I was thinking about getting some "decent" Polk bookshelf speakers instead to satisfy the wife and maybe "fit" better with the other speakers I have. I was wondering if this would be a good idea (bookshelf speakers) and what you guys would recommend in the range of $200-$300 in the Polk line. I know it's not a lot to work with but I've already spent more than the wife thinks on the plasma tv and blu ray player. LOL I also don't have to have the latest and greatest so if there are some year-old models or closeout models that would be fine with me.

I'm currently in my kids' future playroon downstairs trying to get all this stuff setup for Christmas listening to my S10's and forgot how good they sound compared to the satellites. :)

Thanks in advance.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with using bookshelf's (just remember to use speaker stands, to keep the tweeters around ear level), as for recommendations, the RTi4 or the RTi A1 are in your price range. Is the $200-$300 for the center channel too?

Center channel

Also plan on a center channel form the same speaker line for a good tonal matching across the front.

The smaller the speakers you buy the bigger the sub you'll need. :D
