I need some help planning Home Theater Layout and Speaker Selection-
I need some floorplan software to make a room diagram to include for advice.

What CAD/Floor Plan software is best for Home Theater layout planning?
Any speaker placement/room acoustic programs to help?

Would someone be willing to hook me up with whatever software?

Let me know -
Grateful and I am,
Jason

I went through this exercise and ended up buying a Home and Gardens package based on the Chief Architec engine. Think it was $99. Ended up using a 12" ruler, protractor, and graph paper instead. The software sucked. I must have f'd around with it for 10+ hours. Just couldn't get it to do what I wanted it to do. Save yourself the money. Unless you go top end CAD sw you are wasting your money in my opinion.

Home Architect 3D is a great program that I use to do 2 & 3D renderings of my house as I remodel it. It is cheap (around $30) and pretty powerful. I got mine at Sams or Costco, I don’t remember. It also does landscaping.

I concur with MacManNM. I have a version that I've had for about 8 years. It is more rudimentary than newer products but it has served my purposes over the years. No product is perfect and all have a learning curve.

Rives Audio has software to aid in speaker and acoustic treatment placement for room optimization. They offer demo downloads. Ckeck it out at http://www.rivesaudio.com/software/softframes.html

When you use the IMG tags, you need to put a URL that links directly to the image, like www.bsurl.com/example.jpg . Otherwise, if you have the image on your computer, you can click "manage attachments" underneath the text winow in the "Additional Options" section. Once the window opens, simply upload the image you want (100kb limit, by the way).

Electrical Plan (combined with layout): When I finished the my basement I had front projection home theater in mind, but did not have the equipment chosen or an exact layout completed. To make it as flexible as possible I put extra outlets where the likely spots for an equipment rack would be, plus an outlet in the ceiling for the projector. Pre ran coax and network cables also. I installed a 1" conduit at two likely rack location to accomodate future cables like surround speakers and projector video runs. I have one of these chock full now and the other close to full. If I did it again I would install 2 1" conduits instead. I have a suspended ceiling so the conduits just terminate with a bushing above the ceiling. http :// integrityluxuryhomes.com/plans . php
