Flexible Speaker conduit

Hey guys,

after half an hour of going through my list at Home Depot, I had found all of my materials to run my speaker wire inside the conduit, PVC lenghts, elbows, connectors, glue...etc.

Just as I got at the end of the isle, I saw this flexible tubbing, 3/4', below were all the connectors and couplings for the electrical boxes. I started to take a closer look at it and I realized that all my problems were solved, no bending (heating) the PVC piping, glueing them together and the issue of running the piping in tight area.

I was able to run all my tubing withing 1/2 and hour, by myself and absolutely to issues.

I thought I would share this product with all of you, as I thought it was awsom. My last HT I used the old PVC conduit, it worked well but it was alot of work.

Hope this helps, again I got it in the electrical isle with the grey PVC tubing at Hope depot., 5.16$ for 10ft and the couplings were 1.29$ each

I was able to run a tube for all my speakers (7.1) for less that 100.00$ and 1/2 work. 14x25' room.

I have a attached a quick video....sorry,bad quality and I am not an actor...lol

That's also known as 'Smurf tube' because of the blue color. It comes in longer spools when purchased from wholesale distributors, which makes it easier to run cables after the tubing is in place because there wouldn't be any splices. The orange tubing is usually used for low voltage cabling, which is what speaker, coax, Cat5/6/7 and other communications cabling is considered to be.

Glad you found it- I hope you avoided sharp bends. Minimizing the sharp bends and the number of bends reduces the force needed to pull or push cabling through this stuff. Tighter and more bends reduces the amount of cable that can be pulled, too.

If you would need larger diameter tubing like this, it's available in 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2" diameter, so call the electrical parts dealers near you if you need it.

What I did is run a seperate run for each speaker, so the 3/4" is working fine for the 14 gauge speaker wire.

Thanks for the heads up on the coils, I will look that up when I finish the rest of my basement and have longer runs to do.

Got most of it done, just need to run the rest of the speaker wire, install boxes and figure out the mess at the back in the " control room!!!"...lol
