Flagship Recievers

If I had a flagship reciever like the Yamaha RX-Z11 or the Denon 5308, I don't think I would use external amplification. I vision the non use of very well designed robust amplifiers as a big waste! I don't mean this as a slight to anyone who does.
I see it like buying a Porsche and towing it with your Bugatti!
I am probably too frugal.

If I could afford a flagship receiver, I'd buy separates instead.

We find that the number of posts about the power amplification capabilities of pre-pros/flagships/separates' is inversely proportional to the likelihood of the person ever actually buying/affording one.

The same law applies to the amount of time/effort put into making sure the affected listening room is sufficient to notice the differences!

There are exceptions of course!
