First Timer advice - Infinity Primus 363 vs Monitor Audio RX6

Hi guys,

My first post here and my first time entry into audiophile world...

I have been auditioning bookshelves and floorstands since the last 1-2 months and have decided to go for floorstanders..

My options currently are these :

Polk Tsi500
Monitor Audio RX6
Infinity Primus 363


I have heard some other floorstanders but Ive shortlisted the above.,.

I will be pairing them with the Denon 3312 / Marantz 6007

Price wise :

Polk Tsi 500 and Infinity Primus 363 are the same where I live

The thing with Infinity is that the dealer is also offering me the reciever at a pretty nice price :

Infinity 363 (pair) + 351 center + Denon 3312 @ 2100 (Singapore Dollars) -
Monitor Audio RX6 + RXC + Denon 3312 @ 3400 (Singapore Dollars)
Polk Tsi500 + center + denon 3312 @ 2800 (Singapore Dollars)

Infinity is pretty expensive here compared to the US..while the MA is pretty much comparable to its price in the UK..

Need your opinions guys....I know there is definite difference in overall quality between MA and Infinity....but is it worth 1200 SGD (almost 950 USD)

I never had any half decent speakers so everything sounds good to me...and I am looking to not upgrade the speakers for next 5 yrs atleast ...

You've heard them. Only you can decide if the improvement in sound is worth the increase in price.

For me: I'd get the 363's, but then I like those speakers quite a bit.

I'd have to agree.. Go with the Infinity's. They're great speakers for their price..

Infinity has lot of fans in this forum....

On some other forum...MA had lot of votes...guess it all boils down to what I like more....the premium sound...or good sound at an affordable price....

as I mentioned I am a first timer...so to me probably a 5000$ speaker does sound the same as 1000$ one so yeah..lets see...will make the decision soon...

I've heard other MAs but not those, but based on the one's I've heard, I'd probably lean toward the MAs simply because a better speaker is money better spent in the long run. For that price difference however, I agree with Jerry, only you can make that call if it is justified for the amount of difference you hear.

I am probably going to decide on the MA RX6 and pair it with a Denon 3312 / Marantz 6007....Both of them have similar insides...any suggestion on which one to prefer?

I agree with the speaker choice - I have no overall preference
with the receivers, they are both nice - if needed, flip a coin.

I prefer Marantz personally, but that's more personal preference. I wouldn't complain about owning the Denon

They will both turn on and off reliably, but which one turns you on more?

Guess what I bought this set mainly for movie purposes but I have started listening much more to music ....I think I will buy a stereo amp sooner than I thought !
