First Time Setup - Done or did I miss anything?

Hey everyone,

I'm happy to report I got my 5.1.4 RSL speaker system installed! Last night I ran through the Dirac live room calibration process on my Onkyo RZ-50 and everything seems to be working fine. Now I'm wondering what's left for setting things up. Here are a few things I'm curious about:
  • How should I be setting the crossover on my subwoofer? It's an RSL Speedwoofer 10s MKII and when it came the knob on the back had the crossover set to 40hz, which I haven't changed. Nor have I changed the Phase knob from 0.
  • I've seen people in videos talking about ground noise and proper grounding... and yet the receiver and subwoofer both have plugs with no third prong for grounding in them. So what the heck is everyone talking about here?
  • What else am I missing that should be done during first time setup?
  • Bonus question: How do I know how loud I can turn the volume up to? These RSL speakers are smaller than they look in the pictures, so it's hard to intuit how loud they can get.
Thanks everyone!

1. Leave the RSL crossover switched off...it will click around the 40hz mark. That will also engage their onboard DSP (equalizer) for the sub. Your Onkyo will control the crossover point. Don't worry about the phase control which generally is for a multi-sub setup.

2. No concern...ground noise/hum is usually associated with bigger multiamp systems with lots of interconnects.

3. Experiment with speaker placement...if you can.

4. Universal Rule....if it sounds bad when you turn it up to a certain level...turn it down, you've hit the system limits.
