Recently got a Onkyo TXSR601 driving a pair of my 125W 6ohms Wharfedale speakers. Hooked it up this afternoon. Very quickly, I noticed I have to turn up the volume to about 35 or higher to hear. I thought my wiring is wrong (+ to -, etc) I doubled check my wiring, and it was correct (+ to +, - to -)

Anyone here owns Onkyo TX series here that can help me. Even if you don't own one, give me a suggestion/pointers. Is this suppose to be like that? BTW, I didn't change any settings, this is brand new, so I am assumming it is default settings. I use it to watch TV, DVD, and listening to music.

Pls help..

Sounds pretty normal. The number on the volume scale is pretty meaningless and cannot be compared to other receivers, even within the same brand.

However you really should go through the speaker setup and calibrate properly. Keep in mind also that your perception of loudness changes depending on how much ambient noise is present. For example, I have a 502 and turn it up to around 25 in the afternoon or early evening when its noisy outside, but come nightfall when things are quiet, I turn it down to 15 or so. Of course I calibrated mine and at my reference level of 50 (85dB) it is so loud you can't really stand it for long.
