This is my first time setting up home theater systems. I have come up with the following combinations. Please review this.

Receiver - Denon AVR X3400H
Subwoofer - Klipsch R12SW or R10SW
Speakers option 1 - Klipsch R150M Pair + 2 * Klipsch RP240s + 1* Klipsch 250c
Speakers option 2 - Klipsch R150M Pair + Klipsch R14S Pair + 1*Klipsch 250C
Speakers option 3 - Klipsch R150M Pair + 3 * Klipsch RP240s.

Please suggest your opinions on the combination or any replacement speakers and some options for the speakers. Currently I am not planning for any amplifier unless needed.

The differences between option 1 and 2 will be slight so flip a coin between those two. Do not go with option 3, the use of a surround speaker for a center is a very bad idea. That would make dialogue unintelligible.

I wouldn't particularly want either of those Klipsch subs, would look elsewhere (unless you just want to match speakers up aesthetically with the cera-metallic cone colors). You say you're not planning for a receiver but you list the Denon 3400...you already own this? Where are you located?

Sorry. That was a mistake. I meant amplifier. I am in the CA area. I am going with Klipsch because I kind of got a discount with them. That is why I am trying to go with them.

California or Canada? :)

You get what you pay for to an extent... :) Personally I'd look at Dayton's SUB1200 or 1500 (at parts-express.com) for a budget sub option. Just what is your sub budget?

The Denon is likely quite sufficient for amplification with those Klipsch speakers, but somewhat depends on how loud you listen and at what distance. Try an spl calculator to get an idea of amp needs http://myhometheater.homestead.com/Index.html
