First system: Need speaker help!

Thanks for that number. I'll be auditioning the ERA D14's, B&W 683's and CM7's this week.

I'm very interested in hearing your impressions of the D14, especially as compared to the B&W. I've been very happy with my D5's but I don't know when I'll get a chance to hear the towers.

b&w 683 are very good speaker for 1.5K, if you can get it half price, it is a steal.

however, if you can get full line of B&W speakers at 50%, u should get a pair of 804s, which normally at 35K, but after 50% off, it only $700 more than 683, and i would say it would be the best $700 upgrade u can get.

i first listened to the new 600 lines, and they sounds pretty good. change to CM series, they sounds pretty much the same as 600 series. The CM7 sounds brighter than 683, but 683 has better bass extention. however, after listened to 800 series, those are in a totally different class comparing to 600 and CM series. the detail was incradible.

unless you want to play certain games only available on Xbox, why not just get an PS3 and u don't need to buy a dvd player nor a blue ray player. use the extra cash toward speakers. in addition, PS3 can do very good upconverting on DVD.

The PSB Image T65s I've mentioned are half the price of the ERAs. I only bring this up becuase you posted that the PSBs were over your budget and now your going for something twice that amount?

Yeah, I'm thinking I get about 60-70% ERA but I can't find any prices on the D14s. Have you listened to the 683 v. CM7s? What makes them better in your opinion? The only thing I hate is that they don't offer the CM7 in black, haha.

I stated this on page 1 and I also mentioned that I don't have a PSB dealer close.

My future roommate already has a PS3 so essentially, yes, there will be a PS3 in the system as well.

Yes, I first chose it as my Honda-Tech username because my car was a 95 Civic EX at the time. I've just kinda kept the name. Are you a Honda enthusiast? I've since moved on to an Impreza 2.5RS and now a WRX wagon.

With 50% off B&W products I'd call it: all systems go, but if you'll be reviewing the speakers by any means I could suggest Paradigm, they're Monitor series are astounding with 3 floor standers starting at about $700 a pair. With several options for centre channel surrounds and subs to fit your budget. I definatly recommend checking some reviews or going for it yourself
