First Setup, wiring advice, feedback?

Hey all. I've been looking to get my first HD TV for quite some time now and have been trolling the AVS forums for a few months. Finally I decided to pull the trigger and started order my equipment yesterday.

Polk RTi8s
Polk FXi A4s
Polk CSi3
BIC H-100
Onkyo 705
Harmony 880 remote
Brickwall PW8R15AUD
Panasonic BD30k Blu Ray
Samsung LN-T5271F

I've read quite a number of posts about wiring and the posts usually turn into arguments instead of just people offering their advice. So I turn it over to you guys. I am basically looking for wire that is decent enough for an entry level system.

Also, is there a specific order in how I go about testing, calibrating and setting everything up? Such as just hook up the fronts and test, then surrounds and so on...or do I just hook everything up and run the Audyssey setup? Again, I am new to all of this so I want to make all the common pitfalls of a newbie go as smoothly as possible (if that is possible).

Thanks,
G

If you've been trolling the forums, you know about www.monoprice.com. 'Nuff said.

As for hook up, just go through the process methodically, following the manual closely. Attention to detail is key, making sure the +'s and -'s match and L's and R's match. Get all the physical connections made, then run Auyssey.

Hello Gottso, welcome!

A lot of this depends on the size of your room, and how long the runs are.
You could use 12 AWG in the front and 14 AWG for the rear.
You could use 14 AWG. though, if you ever upgrade your system in the future, 12 wire would work well with almost anything.
Your Polks are pretty efficient, they won't need much to get them to play loud.
Here is a link to a great place for wire:

Have all your speakers set up first, then calibrate.

Good luck
Rick

Starting to get that anxious feeling already and the pieces won't even be here for at least a week. Going to be a long one.

I'd agree. Monoprice is the best bang for buck for interconnects.
