I am new to the forum and was wondering if anybody could give me some information on some speakers from a long time ago. I have a pair of Yamaha NS-A642 floorstanding speakers. Does anyone have any information about these speakers? Could they be used in a current home theater set up? If so, what could work in conjunction with these speakers? Thanks for any help.

Hi Red. Welcome.
I couldn't find any info on those speakers.
If they are 15 or more years old, chances are the foam surrounds are rotted.
The electrolytic caps get a little funky.
(funky is a technical electronics term):D
Having all that repaired can be costly.
A DIY project will save you some.
The other problem, even if they are in perfect shape, finding a matching center channel, that will be a problem, or impossible.

Thanks Rickster 71 for the information. I'm sure that these speakers are at least 15 years old as they were part of an audio rack system. I am actually happy that you enlightened me a bit as I really did not want to go that route. Now I can get that behind me and start looking for an upgrade to my current Klipsch satellite system. I do have my eye on the RF-62 home system from Klipsch. Thanks again.
