Hello all. I stumbled across this site on accident and boy am I glad I did. This is my first HT and I'm in the process of buying all my equipment.

My room is about 14x20 with 8' ceilings. Knee walls about 4' with slanted ceilings. (it's the room above the garage.)

So far I have come up with this set up but if yall could give me some suggestions or let me know if this would do. I don't have a huge budget but I don't want to buy a HT in a box. Let me know what you think.

TV- Panasonic 50" Viera VT25
Towers- EMP Impression Series E5Ti
Center- Intimus 4C Center Channel Speaker
Sub- VELODYNE IMPACT 10" 250w

I'm open to any suggestins and I would love any addvice. Thanks abunch.

Why a different center channel from EMP? They should be timbre matched as closely as possible and its easier to do with speakers from the same manufacturer and line.

Agreed 100% on that statement.3db is right on.You want to match the fronts and center. The rears can be unmatched with no issues.I would really like to know what your budget is to be more helpful............

Not sure what your budget is on the TV, but if the room is light controlled, then it is always worth the consideration that you may want to bump things up to a front projection setup and a 100" screen from about $1,500 or so. It may be within your budget and worth consideration for that true level of home theater experience.

The Panasonic is a nice display, but depending on the room size, 50" is not very large.

Thanks again guys. I would like to stay under $1,500 for the audio. I know it's not alot but that is all that the "home squaw" will allow. I plan on buying the rears later.

I looked at EMP's E5Ci center speaker. Would that work?

As far as the tv, I don't want to do a projection because we will likely move in a few years and I would like to be able to just take that tv and put it in another room if I would like. The room is 13x20 but I will put the couch about 7 to 10 feet from the tv.

what about a receiver? I plan on spending around $300 for a 5.1

Thanks again for the comments.

That EMP E5Ci would work much better than Intimus you were planning on getting as they will be timber matched with the mains.

Three hundred is kinda tight but I'm sure you could probably pick up a used one. I'll let other more knowldegeable peoplw who know where to look for used receivers point some out for you.

What about the Onkyo TX-SR508 for a receiver? Pretty good price and if I wanted to go 7.1 in the future, it's there. But I'm not sure that if this receiver would be ok with this setup.
